It's Okay to Fail
Amazon has my eBook What the Good Student Said. I remember the who, what, why, and when of publishing it. So many people promised to buy. I even had one guy that wanted to order 30 for his incoming 101 class in fall. That was about six years ago. I thought community colleges and universities may use the book especially for incoming at-risk freshmen. Yeah, that didn’t happen but it’s okay to fail. I thought it would help people, young and old, who were going to school to feel more confident and navigate college courses. A bit of it, due to the pandemic, may even need a re-write because of online classes. I know this:
At least I tried. So many people never finish writing a book, and then they never publish it. I did both.
It did help a few students, about 250, based on sales. Some people even have autographed copies.
Maybe the next book will do better. Yes, I’m going to get up, brush myself off, and, highly likely, fail again. That’s how I learned to walk, and talk, and drive a car. I can even walk and talk at the same time now. I refuse to give up. Could you imagine if we all gave up trying to walk the first time we failed? The entire world would crawl on all fours. We would have sets of shoes for our hands and feet.
I don’t want to live in a world where we all crawl around. I want to stand upright and walk around. The deadline for the book is self-imposed and in November just in time for Christmas purchases.
