Self-care in seven steps
Remember to check out my YouTube channel for more tips that compliment the blog. There are also playlists for different categories of advice. One-on-one coaching is available by Zoom. I have already started booking January appointments.
Here are seven steps you can take to get the self-care you need during stressful times:
Write it out and do the brain dump. By putting everything on paper, you empty your mind of those stray thoughts that keep you awake.
Do some physical activity like stretching or taking a walk. You can even go for a drive to get fresh air during the day.
Research if supplements may address areas where your day to day eating falls short. Magnesium and Omega 3 is supposed to help during stressful times.
Connect with a higher power through prayer, 12-step programs, and meditation.
Connect with friends and family even if they are far away. We live in a time where we can video chat and see our loved ones that are across the miles. Also try connecting with nature or the neighborhood pets if you don’t have a pet of your own. Bonds with others help reduce stress. Everyone needs a tribe or life group. No man is an island.
Put fresh sheets on your bed so you have a good feeling when you slide into clean sheets that smell good.
Cook a healthy meal at home so you know everything that is being used to make the meal. Also look for superfoods you can add to your at-home meals like flax or chia seeds.
Buy and arrange some grocery store flowers or buy an indoor plant to have something green in the home to boost your mood.
Oh, wow, you got a bonus, there are eight tips. I want to wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season. For the rest of the month, I am spending more time on the YouTube channel content. Make sure you email me directly at lcalvertjd@gmail.com if you want to book one-on-one coaching.
